I’m going to have a bit of a mutter about host moves.
Primarily, I hope that by SE transferring the ffxiv world status NA servers out of Canadian East to somewhere else, it won’t have an enormous effect on my ping. However the game is designed to be played with up to some 200ms ping. I ping 80-90 in the United Kingdom. I pinged a League of Legends waiter on the West shore once I heard about this and my ping went around 142. So, hopefully it’ll be fine in the worst case situation.
How can I end up (as an EU player) within an NA server? Well. I met with a lot of NA players. So occasions were scheduled with both EST and UK players in your mind. Anyone both sides of these needed to adapt a bit. Einherjar at 09:00 PST on Sundays for some players turned into a reality.
When ffxiv data center split had been rereleased, lots of my former buddies from FFXI and I banded together to begin a brand new group. Again, a mixed group. Now I did consider whether to start on an EU-slanted server (Chaos data centre ) however as there was no actual difference in place and a number of the players at the group only talk English, we decided to form on an NA server. As the hosts were on the East coast, the UK players in the group did not suffer too badly.
What you may not understand or recall is that FFXI servers were all global. So players from around the planet were muddled together. Whilst this could cause a few problems, on the whole it had been remarkably successful. This meant you could meet players from everywhere — and I absolutely loved it.
So if you’ve played a game from 2004, with buddies who in some circumstances you’ve known since the start and many who you have known for over a decade and you also see another chance to group up, you’re not going to need to break the group up. I have met quite a few of these players in real life when I seen the US or met up in the united kingdom. We’ve also gathered some great friends along the way inside ffxiv data centres itself.
So yes, I take I made the choice to roll on an NA server since a greater part of the group were NA and initially we’d decided to visit Gilgamesh at which many of the forum bands were going. However we transferred to another server on precisely the same datacenter because we could not get everyone into Gilgamesh.
When the ping becomes a nightmare and makes the game hard to perform, I then need to confront a decision I’m reluctant to create.
YoshiP knows that there are a wide range of reasons people play on NA servers — many of these social. He knows the situation better than some NA players. Many of which have not been playing since the beginning if there was no physical difference in data centre location. When Chaos proceeded, NA people were given off free transfers. Can EU players be given free transfers off the NA one?
Here’s hoping it’s a storm in a teacup and actually it makes very little difference. However, friends farther West to Europe might have an even harder time than me.
FFXIV: I’m alive
Actual life was a bit crazy in the past 2-3 months and work is really stressful so I have not written much about the newest spots. I tweet a reasonable bit and if you are interested in keeping up with all the Free Company, my antics and game information, that’s the best location to trace me.
Finishing the Yokai occasion for my shine in the black bracket. I have one weapon to get before the 1st November.
Leveling my DoH/DoL classes. My gatherers went up pretty fast after the launch of Stormblood, but I do want to gear them better. Have 5/6 of those Master books ( only one fishing you to get). I’m currently trying to gear my crafters. My specialists are 70 (WVR, LTR & GSM) and that I have the books for them. I’m on my way to my 4th book and it’s going to be Alchemy. If I can equipment eveyrthing appropriately I can switch specialisms briefly, simply to create the new flying seat mount.
I ranked up in the new beast men quests a few time but with work being busy from hours and having to farm for Yokai, I gave up advancing this before I am done with Yokai. So I have the very first turtle minion and that is it.
I’m slowly farming MGP to work towards my new Korporkur (sp?) mount. I would like 750k and I am at 618k. I did manage to get my Gloria mount completed and complete the GARO occasion some time ago. It’s nice sailing round on the tiniest airship ever.
That I have been able to beat all of the extreme primals up to Shinryu and have the initial phase and some of the moment down to Shin. I’d love to beat this one, it is fun and also the weapons will be handy. I’ve zero doggos but I’ve one bird. Every time I start a farming party for Bismark Ex, everybody else gets a bird and that I roll pathetically. I have a few Zurvan and Thordan totems but nearly none for Sephi and Sophia.
I’ve finished all of the dungeons together with my squadron, after. So I need to work on this but it’ll wait a couple of weeks. Work should facilitate up in December so until then, it’ll be an occasional things.
Additionally attempted lowmanning (4 of us) Syrcus tower and Void Ark.. Took a while but was good fun. Syrcus wasn’t any problem, VA could have been quicker with 2 more.
